Sight Examination and BenefitsSight Examination and Benefits Our sight examination is carried out by a qualified optometrist using the highest standards and advances in technology for your benefit. By assessing your situation the ophthalmic optician will decide which of the following tests should be included in your eye examination. History and Symptom We take note of your symptoms and ask you about any family eye problems, as well as assessing your visual needs. Visual Acuity and Vision Assessment We measure your vision with and without spectacles and compare it with previous results giving an accurate guide to your eyes health. Eye Muscle Assessment We check that the muscles moving your eyes are working in a normal way. Interior and Exterior Eye Examination By looking inside and outside your eye, we are able to detect a number of diseases and disorders such as diabetes, glaucoma and high blood pressure. We also check your pupil reflexes. Objective Assessment of Refraction A retinoscope is used to determine the basis of your prescription. Subjective Assessment of Refraction By using a series of lenses a final accurate prescription is achieved. Near Vision Assessment We investigate your ability to focus when reading and assess the need for any appropriate correction. Glaucoma Test Pressure can build up inside the eye causing intra-ocular irreversible damage. A computerised machine will measure your intra-ocular pressures and this serious eye disorder may be avoided. When indicated, we will check your field of vision for proper retinal function.
